So it’s almost 2 weeks into the New Year. You’ve been cooking lightly, exercising daily, and are feeling better than ever. You can definitely keep this up for 50 more weeks – easy.
You laugh in the face of those pessimists who continue to rattle off the bleak new years resolutions statistics: 80% of people give up on their new years resolutions by January 31st, only 8% of people fulfill their resolutions, etc, etc.
You will prove them wrong.
But then.. you get a little stressed, a little grumpy, a little tired, and quickly look for your usual “pick-me-up” beverage. Except, now you can’t reach for the chocolate milkshake, super sweet and super strong cocktail, or your childhood favorite – hot chocolate with extra marshmallows.
How can you survive 50 more weeks?!
Well, check out these two recipes below which taste just like the real thing, but don’t dump you into that 80% just yet. And yes, this is yet another chocolate-themed post – but who will complain?
First up – a chocolate milkshake that I created which puts a Wendy’s Frosty to shame (well… almost). It can be used for breakfast, post-workout, dessert, or all of the above.
Guiltless Chocolate Milkshake
1. 1/2 avocado
2. 1 ripe banana
3. 1.5 tbsp cocoa/cacao powder
4. 2-3 dates (pitted)
5. 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
6. 1 C almond milk
7. 1-2 handfuls of ice
Blend, pour, and sip.
Second – I used this decadent Kale & Chocolate Healthy Hot & Spicy Cocoa Recipe to satisfy my late-night cravings when the polar vortex came through.
So next time you’re tearing apart the kitchen, searching for the leftover holiday candy or cookies, just grab a glass and whip one of these up. They’re easy, satisfying, and will help you get a little closer to that 8%!
